Rider's Chose Illusion G3 Tower as Innovation of the Year

The Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Illusion G3 continues to tower above competitor wakeboard tower offerings even according to riders themselves. The G3 weightless fold-down tower was voted Rider’s Choice Innovation of the Year on WakeWorld.com. Malibu Boats signature forward swept design; stout stainless steel tube and billet build, standard swivel combo racks and in-house construction make this wakeboard boat tower unique. What throws it into the “Innovative” category is weightless fold-down to standard garage height. Awards like WakeWorld.com’s Rider’s Choice mean a lot to the Malibu Boats Family. Customer satisfaction is why they continue to push the limits of design and function every year, which is what they have done for 2011.

The 10th annual WakeWorld Riders Choice Awards presented by CWB Board Co. was the biggest ever. For the 10th consecutive year WakeWorld gave riders the opportunity to share their opinions on Pro Riders and wake sport products. Participants visited WakeWorld.com and cast their votes during the entire month of August. In addition to being voted Rider’s Choice Boat of the Year, Malibu Boats took home Innovation of the Year for the Illusion G3 wakeboard boat tower.

Dave Williams, Editor of WakeWorld.com, wrote, “The Innovation of the Year brought another win for Malibu Boats as their new Illusion G3 tower topped the voting.”

The Illusion G3 can be collapsed in seconds with little instruction. The gas spring assisted design of the G3 tower allows for weightless fold-down. A single person can collapse this tower and does not have to be strong to do it. The Illusion G3 is so light, even with optional accessories like two pairs of Malibu Titan Alpha II speakers and an extra set of Titan Slide-of Spinner racks installed the tower can be folded with fingertips.

The Illusion G3 takes tower design and you to new heights with hybrid construction that marries the strength of all weather coated billet aluminum with the resilience and beauty of 3” stainless steel tubing. The billet tower bases and wings add another unique element of strength and style to this exclusive tower. The first tower to combine these two materials, the Illusion G3 is as much a product of strong components as it is a precision built Malibu wakeboard boat feature. The Illusion G3 is also the only wakeboards boat manufacturer built tower in the industry, which allows Malibu to control quality and cost.

When asked about the Illusion G3 being voted Rider’s Choice Innovation of the Year, Paul Singer, VP of Sales and Marketing for Malibu Boats, had this to say. “An award like this means more to us than just about any other because it is determined by the end user. There’s no better high-five for the Malibu Boats Family than an award like WakeWorld’s Rider’s Choice. We are grateful to all who voted and we will keep working hard to continue to push limits!”

Malibu Boats was extremely honored to have the Illusion G3 voted Rider’s Choice innovation of the Year on WakeWorld.com, but that recognition doesn’t mean the innovation stops. For 2011 Malibu Boats has pushed the limits of tower design even farther by offering this award-winning tower in white. Other 2011 G3 tower advancements include the available Flow-cam Rear View Rider Camera system, Wet Sounds Alpha II speakers as well as more wakeboard rack options. Malibu’s Illusion innovation continues.

Tantrum Pride!

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) wakeboard boat owners, the Kappler Family, sent us an email with photos of their son Mitch sporting his new biographical Kappler Malibu kids shirt. He is wearing his "I See A Tantrum in My Future" shirt proudly! However instead of doing a Tantrum behind his Malibu wakeboard boat on Lake Gaston to celebrate, Mitch decided to throw a 360. Either way, you do us and that Malibu Boats t-shirt proud, Mitch! Keep riding!

Mitch's dad Brent sent us the following in an email:
I wanted to thank you very much for the Tantrum T's and send a picture of Mitch in his shirt. We really appreciate Malibu for thinking of him and having him be the inspiration for the new shirt. If you can offer them in adult sizes, that would be great. We've had many requests for them from adults who see a Tantrum in their future, as well.

Good point on the adult sized shirt, Brent! I bet that's in the works.

We're proud to have your family as part of the Malibu Family. Thanks for being Malibu Gear inspiration Mitch and keep up the awesome riding! Have fun!

Tyson Stages a Malibu Surf Wake Sit-in

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) boat owners, the Beach Family in Knoxville TN, captured this unique wakesurfing video behind their Wakesetter VLX wakeboard boat. Scott and Sharon Beach filmed their 12 year old son Tyson wakesurfing behind their VLX, but unlike most surfing videos the star of this one was sitting down! Amazingly enough Tyson was able to wakesurf sitting for more than 2 minutes - on a skim board no less.

Way to go Tyson! That was pretty cool! Thanks to Scott and Sharon for sharing the video with us. Keep having fun with your Malibu boat!

Malibu Boats Wins Over Whole Fam with 247 LSV

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) unveils the all-new 2011 Sunscape 247 Luxury Sport-V.

There’s no better example of Malibu Boats ground-breaking 2011 model year than the new Sunscape 247 LSV. The new look is only the beginning. The 247 LSV offers innovative control and comfort inside the boat with Malibu Touch Command (MTC) and a new transom seating area. Malibu performance excels in this 24-footer with a digitally shaped bottom for precise handling, the L96 410hp engine for specifically calibrated power and the Shift by Wire Throttle system for fingertip control. As your family grows this boat accommodates them, their stuff and their water sports preferences with water ski and wakeboard wakes made to satisfy all skill levels. The truth is on the water. Test-drive a 247 LSV today!

Performance.
You might expect a 24-foot 7-inch luxury water sports boat with room for 17 to be a challenge to handle: not if it’s a Malibu. Precise electronic throttle and shift join fingertip steering for effortless flat turning. Built on a hull optimized for a smooth ride and precision handling, the Sunscape 247 is as nimble as it is a wake maker.

Whether your brand of wake is of the flat, soft variety or you prefer huge, rampy water for launching, the 247 LSV can accommodate. The hull design is three-pronged. It’s built for handling, ride and versatile water sports wakes. At skiing speeds the water behind the boat flattens creating a free-skier’s paradise. At wakeboarding speeds the 247 LSV displaces more water and creates wakes that beg to be ridden. Add a boatload of Malibu-exclusive wake enhancement like the Patented Power Wedge and sub-floor hard tank ballast to get even higher.

If you really want to ride, add the optional Illusion G3 wakeboard tower with weightless fold-down. Made in-house by Malibu Boats, this wakeboard boat accessory comes standard with a set of swivel combo fork board racks to accommodate surf and wakeboards.

Dash.
The 2011 dash looks bad in a good way! You’ve never seen a dash like the one you’ll find in a 2011 Sunscape 247 LSV. Two-tone, hand-wrapped and studded in stainless steel the Malibu Boats dash is an extra step that is noticeably worth it. Not only does Malibu carry their high performance look through to the interior, function follows.

The MTC projective capacitive touch screen combined with the new Italian-made Isotta Vista Steering Wheel, the available MaliView Dash System and the optional Rockford Fosgate Stereo touch pad are just a few of the heroes on this dash. Now consider the functionality they deliver and it’s almost unbelievable. The dash offers intuitive control over nearly all of the boat’s functions with Malibu first’s like Rider Presets combining this control in customizable rider profiles. MaliView and the Rockford Fosgate Sound System have been upgraded for 2011 to include USB video playback and increased iPod®/iPhone® control. Just when you think boat design has been taken as far as it can go, Malibu Boats does it one better.

Malibu Touch Command.
The new Malibu Touch Command (MTC) is amazing on so many different levels; what it is, what it does and the fact that it is standard on all Sunscapes including the new 247 LSV. Made with Projective Capacitive Touch Technology typically reserved for high-end personal digital devices, you won’t find a feature like MTC in a high performance car let alone anywhere else in the boating industry. Malibu Boats is way ahead of the game with touch-sensitive switching based on intuitive hi-res graphical menus of the boat’s functions. Command ballast control, Wedge adjustment, interior lighting, coded keyless ignition, available GPS navigation and more through Malibu Touch Command.

Ignition.
Forget the keys. Go ahead. You won’t need them in your 2011 Sunscape 247 LSV. All Malibu Sunscapes have keyless ignition standard. Type in your code; touch the “Start Engine” icon and motor. No more worries about getting to the lake and forgetting the keys. Malibu’s got you covered.

Power.
Because Malibu powers boats with standard engines that are built specific and anything but standard, the new L96 6.0L makes its home in the new 247 LSVs. With 410 horsepower this Indmar engine pulls every water sport you’re into with 400 foot-pounds of torque. Low-end power or top-end speed, the L96’s Variable Valve Timing (VVT) automatically adjusts giving you the absolute best performance in either situation. If you’re looking to upgrade your 247 power Malibu offers the Supercharged LSA 6.2L. This 550 horsepower engine tops Malibu’s list of engine options as the first production supercharged Gen-IV small block engine the marine industry has ever seen. With 545 ft-lb of torque the LSA doesn’t mess around.

Interior.
Malibu engineers created a cab-forward design to increase the lounge area by 30% more than any other boat in its class. And while a lot of attention has been paid to the common seating area of the Sunscape 247 LSV, the bow and new transom seating is just as comfortable and roomy as any other spot. The bow transforms into a playpen with the addition of the removable filler cushion. The new rear-facing transom seating provides a comfortable front row seat complete with convenient cup holders and more swimstep-accessible wet storage. The Sunscape 247 LSV is geared for family, but you’ll want to be seen and heard in it.

Available 8” Rockford Fosgate M2 full-range speakers add the perfect amount of punch to the Sunscape 247 LSV. Exclusive to the new 247 LSV interior, these 8" speakers are UV and moisture-resistant for great performance in harsh marine environments. Great sound, good looks and an element hardy design make them irresistible.

Look.
Moving or still, the new body design of the Sunscape 247 LSV presents an aggressive shape with sharp lines. Eight color areas can be customized with 21 gel coat colors to make a Malibu boat that is all you. The leaned-back style of the MH4 windshield contributes to the impressive style. Custom designed and branded fresh air vents work with the new lines of the 247 to create a look as incredible as the boat itself. Add the available forward swept Illusion G3 wakeboard tower and your 247 LSV will have that unmistakable Malibu look even from a distance.

Jason tells us “some pics from last weekend, we took the boat to the outer reef, then parked at one of the islands for lunch. Just a morning with the grandads and kids. It’s pretty amazing to ski over the reef, you spend more time watching the fish and coral than working your next trick”.

Malibu Boats Earns 3rd Consecutive NMMA CSI Award

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) is being recognized for outstanding customer service again this year with the 2010 Marine Industry CSI Award from NMMA.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced Malibu Boats as the recipient of the 2010 Marine Industry CSI Award. That makes it 3 years in a row for the world’s best selling ski and wakeboard boat manufacturer. This latest award joins Malibu's 19 Boat of the Year Awards in the trophy cabinet. Malibu Boats was recognized for excellence in customer satisfaction, as part of NMMA’s Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) program.

Malibu Boats will be acknowledged during the annual Industry Breakfast at the 2010 International Boat Builders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), Tuesday, September 28 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

The Marine Industry CSI Awards program honors participating manufacturers that actively measure customer satisfaction and pursue continuous improvement to better serve the customer. Award recipients achieved and maintained an independently-measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction over the past year, based on information provided by customers purchasing a new boat or engine during the period between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010. Participating manufacturers must survey all new boat buyers during this period. For this reporting period, the program surveyed more than 40,000 consumers.

“We are extremely proud to receive this award three years in a row, but the real reward, for us, is the strong customer relationships and brand loyalty we enjoy,” explains Paul Singer, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Malibu Boats. “We have a great team in place who pride themselves on serving the customer completely.”

“It’s important to be able to recognize boat and engine manufacturers that have maintained a focus on customer satisfaction as it’s the cornerstone of our industry’s future,” notes Terry Leitz, NMMA’s director of CSI programs. “CSI Award recipients make a commitment to improve the customer experience thereby reinforcing not only their own reputation for quality but for the industry as a whole.”

NMMA launched its CSI program in 2001 to provide boat and engine manufacturers with an independently measured, cost-effective means of improving customer satisfaction in the boating industry. Since the program’s inception, more than 600,000 surveys have been sent out to new boat and engine customers, allowing participating manufacturers to monitor customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis, and to benchmark themselves against the industry and their competitors.
