Soven Starts '08 Season With Another Win

This weekend the world's top pro wakeboarders battled it out on the waters of Dallas Landing Park in Acworth, GA at the first stop of the 2008 Pro Wakeboard Tour.

The top-four riders in the Pro Men's Division took to the water for the final heat of the contest, where all eyes were on Rusty Malinoski (CAN), Phillip Soven (USA), Adam Errington (SCT) and JD Webb (USA).

All four riders had a killer showing in the finals, but in the end, Team Malibu rider and reigning tour champion Phillip Soven posted a 92.50 to claim the top spot in the contest and became the first rider on Tour to win back-to-back contests in Acworth. Webb, Malinoski and Errington rounded out the competition respectively.

"All those guys stomped some killer tricks out there, not making it easy on me at all," said Soven. "I was just dialed-in on my final run and came out with a win."

7th Straight Boat of the Year Award

We received a 7th consecutive Boat of the Year Award from PowerBoat Magazine last night in LA. The award winners were selected after the magazine's rigorous Performance Trials in Parker, AZ, Sarasota, FL, and San Diego, CA. More than 40 performance boats were evaluated independently by two teams.

This year’s PowerBoat Magazine Boat of the Year award was granted to Malibu Boats for the new 2008 Wakesetter 23 LSV. Check out the Flickr gallery for this boat and you'll see why we won.

This honor makes Malibu the only boat company in the history of PowerBoat Magazine to have earned a seventh Boat of the Year award in as many years. Dan Gasper, Director of Research ad Development, accepted the award for us during PowerBoat Mag's Product Excellence Celebration in LA.

Since its inception, the pride Malibu has taken in its products has netted recognition throughout the industry. The company has accumulated 18 Boat of the Year Awards and 25 Product Excellence awards. Yet, the restless spirit and motivation for perfection never stops.

Chad Sharpe digs on Malibu's VLX

Longtime Malibu Factory Rider, Chad Sharpe, recently was the subject of a short video clip put together by Alliance Magazine. In this video, Sharpe shows off his riding as well as the wakeboard boat he rides behind. Chad chooses the Malibu Wakesetter VLX. The boat featured in the video is a 2007, Chad hasn't received his '08 yet.

Chad talks about signature Malibu features that he enjoys like the Malibu Launch System (MLS). He likes the push-button operation and detailed monitoring our ballast system offers. Chad also really likes the customizable nature of the Power Wedge. In the video he shows us how to adjust the Wedge and monitor its position at the dash. Chad also did another short video for us where he describes Power Wedge operation in more detail. Most of all Chad digs the wake his Wakesetter VLX kicks-up.

Take a look at this video and Chad's sweet moves. You'll see why he is such a big part of our team.
