The Malibu Open is Back in the States This Year

After a year abroad, the Malibu Open Wakeboard and Waterski Championships is going to be state-side in 2008. And although the Malibu Open held in France was a huge success we thought it was time to bring this World record-breaking event home. This year the Malibu Open will grace the "Great Lakes State" Michigan.

The Malibu Open and the state of Michigan are a great fit. With one of largest pools of registered boat owners, the largest lakes and their tradition of high performance vehicles, Michigan is the perfect spot for the Malibu Open.

Malibu boats, distinguished athletes and world record performances will come together, July 18-20, in the mecca of boating recreation. Pontiac Lake will host this water sports double-header featuring not only the Malibu Open but of one of the nation’s premier hydroplane events, Quake on the Lake. And if that’s not reason enough to attend, proceeds from this fund-raiser will directly benefit a local children’s charity.

No Time for Tea at the Boston Boat Show

The Boston Boat Show was nonstop this year. There was definitely no time for tea. Paul Signer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Malibu, was representing the factory at the show. According to Paul he met a lot of excited Malibu owners, some buying new boats and some just stopping by to say hi or check out what's new for 2008.

Paul was particularly excited about meeting the Wharff family. Sheryl and Conray own a 2000 Response LX and they are dedicated slalom skiers, so dedicated they de-winterized their Malibu in January of last year to ski. When they say they ski all year, they are not kidding and in Massachusetts that is amazing.

2008 Shows are Going Off!

We just received the latest report from the 2008 boat show scene and everything is going great! The Malibu factory personnel traveling the boat show circuit are pumped, as are the dealers. Booth traffic is phenomenal, thanks in part to the buzz surrounding the new Corvette boat. The demand for these boats is high world-wide. This demand is bringing more attention to the other boats in Malibu's line, as a result.

On Saturday night, at the Atlanta Boat Show, the Landrys spotted the new Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V when they were checking out a houseboat across the aisle. Being the owners of a C6 Corvette car, they immediately noticed the boat. Turns out they purchased the Corvette boat that night. Now they are a part of the Malibu family. Happened just like that!

New York Boat Show Buzz

As the first major boat show of the year, the New York Boat Show gains a lot of national attention in the media. But that attention doesn't seem to include new models or industry breakthroughs this year. The media is buzzing about the economy and the depressed effect it is having on many boat builders. However, it was even difficult for the reports at the New York boat show to focus on doom and gloom after strolling by the Malibu Boats booth. They noticed right away a crowd of people swarming the booth. Once everyone peeled off, the new Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V was revealed. This boat and Malibu have become the bright spot of several news stories and broadcasts over the past few days at the show.
