Chad Sharpe Scores Cover Of Wake Journal #81

Cover story by Kevco
“TENACIOUS C”
After nearly 15 years at the top of the pro riding food chain, there’s a reason Chad Sharpe is still making it. Young rippers have emerged and Chad has felt the squeeze, but that hasn’t stopped him from maintaining the best lifestyle in the world.
“I’m here to work.” Chad said after the first day of the 2013 Malibu Boats catalog shoot in North Carolina – not a comment you’ll typically hear from a pro wakeboarder. After a day of photo shoots, filming and new product testing, Malibu’s staff noticed Chad has become more than just a rider. He contributes to the success of the overall mission and is genuinely concerned with the performance of the products he uses and wants to make that experience better for everybody who buys them as well.
People who get the chance to meet Chad always say they’re surprised how nice he is. That’s probably because his edgy, Canadian bad boy image has them a bit intimidated. If you get on his bad side, you’ll regret it. But treat him right and you’ll have a friend for life. If you’re in Orlando, you can get a great deal on a private lesson with Chad, just e-mail ronixwake@gmail.com.
Chad also seems to have a much better grip on his temper these days. The Pointless crew used to have standing bets over how far Chad would fling his helmet after his last fall in a contest. These days, you might see a dramatic unbuckle and vicious wind up, but no actual helmet whip.
After talking to him in depth about his current outlook, it’s obvious Chad’s love for wakeboarding has finally won over any frustrations that arise. “I love wakeboarding because of the all the different possibilities,” Chad said. “whether it’s riding behind my boat with the wake jacked up on a hot glassy day or sessioning a rail, taking turns and cheering each other on. Or, just a fun kicker sesh blasting airs. I also love the amazing places wakeboarding has taken me and the awesome people I’ve met along the way. This sport has introduced me to many of my best life long friends.”

Customer Satisfaction Awards Presented To Malibu & Axis

NMMA Program Recognizes Malibu & Axis With Customer Satisfaction Awards
The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) recognized recipients of the 2012 Marine Industry CSI Awards for the award period from April 2011 through March 2012. Malibu Boats and Axis Wake Research were both recognized for excellence in customer satisfaction as part of NMMA’s Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) program.
The Marine Industry CSI Awards program honors participating manufacturers that actively measure customer satisfaction and pursue continuous improvement to better serve the customer. Award recipients achieved and maintained an independently-measured standard of excellence of 90 percent or higher in customer satisfaction over the past year, based on information provided by customers purchasing a new boat or engine during the period between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012.
Participating manufacturers must survey all new boat buyers during this period. For this reporting period, the program surveyed more than 32,000 consumers. “It is an honor to recognize these manufacturers for their outstanding focus on the creation of quality products and an enjoyable customer experience,” notes Terry Leitz, NMMA’s director of CSI programs. “Recipients of the CSI Awards are leading the recreational boating industry forward by ensuring feedback from their customers is an integral part of their planning and manufacturing functions.”

Malibu Releases 2013 WAKESETTER 24 MXZ

Malibu Boats, the global leader in state-of-the-art watersports towboats, will showcase the all-new 2013 Wakesetter 24 MXZ at Surf Expo in Orlando, Fla. September 6-8. The 24 MXZ joins the 22 MXZ, which was introduced last year at Surf Expo, and has now become the fastest-selling new boat launch in Malibu’s history.

“The addition of the 24 MXZ to our wildly successful MXZ family will maximize the boating experience in the large boat, pickle-fork market,” said Scott Davenport, director of sales at Malibu. “This boat is for a big crew that attacks every activity imaginable. And, thanks to SURF GATE, we’ve significantly reduced the time it takes to switch between these activities, letting our customers focus on watersports versus boat setup.”

New features include flip-up Wakeview seating, a dual-purpose built-in cooler with oversized drop-in cooler and expanded storage throughout the boat at convenient access points. The 24 MXZ is outfitted with Malibu’s patented SURF GATE technology and a plug-and-play ballast as well as a Mobile Device Gateway, utilizing Bluetooth technology.  Additionally, customers can personalize their 24 MXZ with gel and metallic gel combinations, and even a matching G3 tower.

“We have designed the 24 MXZ for big lakes and variable water conditions, or any situations where you have a large group of your closest friends and family,” said Dan Gasper, Malibu’s director of product design. “The elevated Wakeview seating provides an excellent vantage point to watch wakeboarding and wakesurfing.”

The WAKESETTER 24 MXZ will make its debut at Surf Expo in Orlando, Fla., at booth #307.
