Battle at Wakestock's Malibu Boats Expression Session

Team Malibu Pro Rider, Phillip Soven, showed up in Toronto, Canada for Wakestock still pumped from his Malibu Open win. Already a front runner for the WWA World Series title, Soven had plans to dominate the Malibu Boats Expression Session, but there were a few other riders that had something to say about that.

WakeWorld.com reported that Rusty Malinoski, Soven, Aaron Rathy and Andrew Adkison ended up in a four man super final. Malinoski, Soven and Rathy each stood up strong runs and double-ups making the scoring tight; Malinoski stuck a backside 7 off the double-up, while Soven stomped a toeside 9 and Rathy hit a heelside 9. The difference, though, was Wakestock’s big, technical rail course, which played to Malinoski and Rathy’s strengths. Both posted smooth, impressive slides over the three big 100-foot rails. Malinoski was able to stay close to Soven with big wake tricks to take the win by a decisive 12.5 point margin, while Soven nosed out Rathy by 3 points. Andrew Adkison struggled with a fall off the big double- kinked A-frame rail and was never able to get back into contention.

Surprising to see Soven in second, but we all know he won't stay there long. Congratulations on another great performance, Phillip. We are all rooting for you. Good luck this weekend in Japan.

Dallas Won at the Malibu Open Too

Dallas Friday won Women's Wakeboarding at the Malibu Open in Michigan. I posted earlier that it was nearly a Team Malibu sweep with our pros taking three out of the 5 water sports events at the open. Well we just found out that Dallas bested the girls to finish first in Women's Wakeboarding. That victory puts Malibu one more step closer to a full sweep, 4 out of 5. Go Team Malibu!

Team Malibu Nearly Sweeps Malibu Open

Just heard from a credible source at the Malibu Open in Michigan that it was nearly a Team Malibu sweep in the final round. Team Malibu Pro Skier Will Asher took the men's slalom title. Team Malibu Pro Skier Emma Sheers took the women's slalom title. And Team Malibu Pro Wakeboarder Phillip Soven finished atop the podium in men's wakeboard. Three Team Malibu victories out of five events, that's pretty great!

Soven Sweeps Pro Tour on His Way to Total Domination

Team Malibu Pro Rider, Phillip Soven, not only earned the Men's Pro Tour title again this year he swept the entire season. At the last pro tour stop in Reno, NV Soven crushed the competition with a near perfect score of 96.50. His nearest competitor finished 12 points behind that number.

Visit WakeWorld.com to learn more about the final Pro Tour Stop and Phillip's victory.

Soven is on his way to the Malibu Open this weekend, looking to keep the streak alive. A win in Michigan will not only earn him the Malibu Open title, but that victory would set him up to take down the WWA Wolrd Series of Wakeboarding as well. With a win at both the Open and Wakestock the following weekend, Phillip would definitely prove his domination of the sport.

Congratulations Phillip and good luck taking this thing all the way. The Malibu Team is pulling for you.
