Win Chad Sharpe’s Gear from SBC Wakeboard Magazine

Team Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Pro Rider Chad Sharpe (@ChadESharpe) had gone from being the brash young punk who had his title stripped from him at Nationals back in the late-90’s to the elder statesman of the Canadian wake scene. Chad doesn’t get back to Canada very much these days with his busy schedule of competing, shooting photos, editing video for his website, funwhenwet.com and being part owner of Ronix, but that doesn’t mean he’s lost any of his national pride. Chad still manages to get out on the ice and play hockey a few times a week in sunny Orlando. And speaking of hockey, that ties in nicely to our skill testing question for this contest.

The Question
Before he got into wakeboarding, Chad was really good at hockey; what position did he play?

The Gear
Ronix Viva Board
Ronix Cell Bindings
Ronix Totem handle & R8 Rope
Billabong Medly Vest
Billabong clothing prize pack
Spy sunglasses and prize pack
Bern Baker Wake Edition Helmet
Rockstar Energy prize pack
Malibu Boats RC toy boat & prize pack.

Learn more on the SBC Wakeboard Magazine web site. Good luck!

A Malibu Boat Visit for Christmas

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Christmas stories have marked the holiday season for us for the past several years. This year we asked Malibu enthusiasts to share their Malibu Christmas stories with us. We chose the best story submitted and are rewarding the writer with a remote control Malibu boat for Christmas.

Matt Beilstein, a Malibu Crew member from Grove City, PA submitted his Christmas story in response to the contest we posted. His story had nothing to do with unwrapping a new boat on Christmas Day or even a new boat at all. Matt wrote about the Christmas he visited his 1988 Malibu Skier in storage and just how much that simple act meant to him.

We bought out first Malibu in late August of 2008. It was a beautiful 1988 Malibu Skier. It was a cherry of a boat and a true Malibu classic. It immediately became my baby. When I wasn't on the water in our boat, I was spending my free time working on modifications and taking care of the boat. That fall I decided the best place to store it was 500 feet underground in a local limestone mine that is used to store antique cars, boats, and RV's in the winter months. It stays 55 degrees underground all year long and would be safe from the Western PA salt and snow.

We pushed the season as long as we could that fall without wetsuits (they soon became first year boat owner Christmas presents. We threw in the towel when the water hit the 40's and I winterized the boat. My crew spent a good weekend with me waxing and detailing the boat before I towed it to the mine to tuck it in for the winter. I spent another hour underground making sure I had enough dry rid in there for the winter and even loaded up the boat with charcoal to absorb any odors that might occur over the winter. My wife thought I was nuts and would remind me it was only going to be down there for "four months". She just doesn't get it.

I left the boat with the sad feeling that all Malibu owners share when we tuck our boats in for the season. I went back to work anxiously awaiting spring with my Malibu desktop reminding me of the coming summer months.

Well December came and as Christmas approached my wife and I took vacation from work. We enjoyed time off and I spent a lot of it here on TheMalibuCrew trying to push through the winter with the "support group" here on the board. It's no doubt the first winter as a Malibu owner is the worst and the longest!

Well the day before Christmas Eve my wife said, "do you want to go see the boat?". "Heck yeah I said!!!" as I ran out to the garage and gathered up some Babes and a bottle of 303 and some Dry Rid refills. She knew I was missing the boat and said it was a good Christmas gift for me to just see the boat.

We loaded up in the car and drove the hour to the mine. The guy at the mine guided us back the mile into the side of the mountain where the boat was tucked away in the dark. I work for a mining company so I told the guy he was fine to leave us there as I knew how to find my way out of the mine. I pulled the cover off and we sat in the boat in the light of the headlights. It was priceless. Sitting in our Malibu ski boat 500 feet below the earth's surface two days before Christmas.

I then spent a half hour detailing the boat with Babes and then put a good coat of 303 on the vinyl. I dumped the water out of my Dry Rid containers and refilled them. My wife helped me to put the cover back on the boat and we headed home.

I was so happy she decided to suggest a boat visit just before Christmas. What a cool idea and it certainly helped me to get though my first Malibu winter! That's my all time favorite Christmas gift and it makes an awesome story that is told over and over!

Matt told us a little more about how he came to be such a fan of Malibu boats. "My uncle owned a Malibu Sunsetter while I grew up and my brother and I looked forward to the "Malibu Weekend" of the summer when our uncle would invite us out on the lake for a day of fun. I would ski until I couldn't even stand. Once I graduated college, got married, and bought our house I knew I had to have a Bu of my own!"

This story really touched our hearts becuase it describes just how powerful a connection people can feel towards water sports and in this case a Malibu boat. At Malibu we feel so priviledged that our boats, new and old, can rank so hi in importance to Malibu owners like, Matt.

We would like to thank Matt for taking the time to share this Malibu Christmas story with us. Santa is bringing you a Red Remote Control Malibu Boat. We hope you enjoy it! Merry Christmas!

Best Malibu Christmas Stories Win RC Boat Under the Tree

We started the tradition of sharing Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Family Christmas Stories several years ago during the first Malibu Boat Rockin' Christmas Event and we want to keep it going this year with your stories. Submit your Malibu Christmas Story by December 15, 2010 and you may have a chance to put a Malibu boat under the tree. A remote control Malibu boat that is. We are giving away three remote control Malibu boats to the top three Malibu Christmas stories.

Do you have a family Christmas story that’s told over and over especially during the Holiday Season? I’m talking about the kind of story that new friends and family members are excited to hear and then retell as a statement of their place in the family’s inner circle. We have retold a few great stories like these over the years for some of our Malibu Family members. Remember the great Christmas story from Idaho Watersports customers the Taylor's. They surprised the kids with a Malibu boat on Christmas morning. Or how about Sabrina Dierksen, Wilson Watersports, customer who surprised her husband with the Malibu boat of his dreams. Then there was the Isner Family from Seattle who surprised their dad on Christmas morning with a wakeboard boat that would help him really do a back roll. These are all great stories, but we know there are more out there.

We're hoping the incentive of adding a Malibu boat under the tree might encourage some of you to share your stories with us. A remote control Malibu boat, that is. Malibu Boats is prepared to send a new remote control Malibu boat to each of the three best Malibu Family Christmas story authors.

Post your stories on the Malibu Boats Facebook Fan Page, add them to the Malibu Christmas Story thread on TheMalibCrew.com or email them to blog@malibuboats.com. These stories can be about anything that is Malibu Boats and Christmas related. Have you every taken your Malibu out on Christmas? That could be a great story. Was your family surprised with a Malibu boat on Christmas? That could be another fun tale to tell. Or maybe you have a story about another way you enjoyed your Malibu boat during the Christmas season. Have you towed your boat in local Christmas parade? We would love to read any and all of these stories. There is no length requirement, make these stories as long or as short as you see fit. They will be judged on content not composition. The three best stories, as judged by a panel from the Malibu Boats Factory, will be rewarded with one remote control Malibu boat each. Eligible story entries must be received by December 15th, 2010.

Win A Piece of Wakeboarding History from Dallas Friday

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) is honoring the most successful female wakeboarder in history with an autographed Dallas Friday jersey give-a-way. Worn by Dallas during the 2008 Malibu Open, we thought this unique prize could help a lucky winner wave bye to the 2010 pro wakeboard season and begin looking forward to Dallas's return. Sing-up for the Malibu Boats Enews to enter to win. If you win and you follow Malibu Boats on Twitter or are a Malibu Boats fan on Facebook you'll receive a bonus Malibu Gear gift card.

Dallas's season was cut short by injury this year, but she is already well on her way back to World Champion condition. The doctors say she is making as many game changing moves in her recovery as she has in competitive wakeboarding. In 2008 she took home gold at the Malibu Open Wakeboard and Water Ski Championships in Michigan. That victory and the 2008 season was huge for Dallas as it was an amazing comeback from another much more serious injury. Dallas wore this rash guard jersey during all of her Malibu Open heats including the final round, where she shut the door on the competition.

Perfect for a game room, man cave or kid's room, this is a one-of-a-kind piece of sports memorabilia that will add to any pro wakeboarding enthusiast's collection. Do you have a wakeboarder on your gift list who is impossible to buy for? Enter them to win!

We're giving this signed Dallas Friday 2008 Malibu Open pro athlete jersey away on the last day of Summer: Tuesday, September 21, 2010. The winner will be chosen randomly from Malibu Boats email list sign-ups between now and September 20th. Malibu Boats will ship the signed Dallas Friday 2008 Malibu Open jersey to the randomly chosen winner no matter where they are in the world. If you win and you follow Malibu Boats on Twitter or are a fan on Facebook you'll receive a bonus $100 Malibu Gear gift card.

To enter, sign-up for the Malibu Boats Monthly Enewsletter. Each month you will receive an email featuring the latest news from Malibu Boats including new product information, fun photos and videos, as well as articles on Malibu Boats athletes, boat owners and events. You will even learn about boat promotions and Malibu Gear specials before anyone else. So sign-up for Malibu Enews and you will automatically be entered to win the autographed Dallas Friday 2008 Malibu Open jersey. Your piece of pro wakeboarding history could only be a "Send" button click away.

Malibu Blanket Winner Turns Giver

Malibu Blanket Winner Turns GiverMalibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) blanket winner, Michael Berzins, recently presented his friend Doug, recovering a snowboard accident, with the one-of-a-kind throw. Michael posted this photo and these words on the Malibu Boats Facebook Fan Page.

"Here's a picture of the blanket winner, Doug. Finally home from the hospital and on the mend. Thank you again for the blanket and the smile (and tears) that it brought."

This is the fan page comment that won Micheal the blanket and the opportunity to present it to his friend.

Michael Berzins (Malibu Facebook Fan)
I need that blanket to give to a buddy of mine (who also owns a Malibu) who recently hit a tree while snowboarding. He is still in ICU at St. Charles Hospital in Bend, OR. When he finally gets to come home he is gonna have a lot of sitting around (and healing) to do. That blanket would make the healing process a little less painful. You can verify this story on TheMalibuCrew's website.

You're a great friend Michael! Our best wishes are with you, Doug and your families. We are proud to call people like you a part of the Malibu Boats Family.

Malibu Blanket Winner is...

Want This Malibu Boats Blanket? We have chosen Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Facebook Fan Michael Berzins as the blanket winner. We found this one-of-kind Malibu Boats blanket last week and decided it needed to be in the hands of the Malibu Boats fan with the best reason for needing it. We offered it up to our Twitter Followers and Facebook Fans and the reasons began pouring in. We received some great responses. Some funny, some moving, some practical, some Malibu prideful and some short but sweet. We chose the case Michael made for the blanket for several reasons. 1.) Michael asked for the blanket for a friend. We liked the idea of the blanket being given as a thoughtful gift. 2.) Maybe in some small way the blanket can help Micheal's buddy heal or at the very least make him smile and think of days in his Malibu boat. 3.) Micheal has a great Facebook Profile Photo! Pink is his color. Lol!

WINNING REASON
Michael Berzins (Malibu Facebook Fan)
I need that blanket to give to a buddy of mine (who also owns a Malibu) who recently hit a tree while snowboarding. He is still in ICU at St. Charles Hospital in Bend, OR. When he finally gets to come home he is gonna have a lot of sitting around (and healing) to do. That blanket would make the healing process a little less painful. You can verify this story on TheMalibuCrew's website.

Thank you for the submission Micheal. We hope your buddy enjoys the blanket. Malibu Boats wishes him a full and fast recovery!

We really appreciate everyone who took the time to publish posts on Twitter and Facebook. The decision was really difficult. We received a ton of great reasons detailing why you all need the Malibu blanket. Here are some of our favorites.

FUNNY
Ed Knutsen (Malibu Facebook Fan)
I don't have a Malibu and I need it for crying myself to sleep.

Trent Johannesson (Malibu Facebook Fan)
My best reason is....because it's awesome and Gibbs and Singer are the best ;) , that and the fact I help out selling Malibu's at the boat shows for Wizard Lake for free!!!!

Jeremy Kuno (Malibu Facebook Fan)
I need one for my new Malibu to keep from freezing my butt of. 150lbs eat 6000 calories a day and can't put on the slightest bit of "insulation" to keep me warm. Plus it would be nice to have to snuggle my 4 year old water warrior in training.

Bailey Borchardt (Malibu Facebook Fan)
we have owned our malibu for like over 10 years and have always loved it . obviously malibu rocks since we have had our sunsetter four that long, now can i have the blanket?

Carol Wright Warr (Malibu Facebook Fan)
I need that awsome blanket because it is tooo cold to go boating in Idaho and because I own everything else Malibu. Rumors about Malibu underwear but I actually haven't found any to buy.

Paul Gregoire (Malibu Facebook Fan)
I boat with a guy name Aladdin and he wants his magic carpet back!! :)

@PhillipSoven: (Malibu Twitter Follower)
@malibuboats because I have a new house with a new couch WITHOUT a new Malibu blanket haha I assume I'm not eligable for this contest!

@SewNso: (Malibu Twitter Follower)
@malibuboats I need the blanket to fan off my incredibly HOT-look'in malibu wakesetter vlx!

@ChristianChance: (Malibu Twitter Follower)
@malibuboats because i passed the bar and never have to study again, and the blanket will eliminate my gf's only excuse to not be my driver

Lawrence Czaszwicz (Malibu Facebook Fan)
I need a one of a kind malibu blanket in my malibu response lxi because skiing is about showing off, and we'll show off that blanket.

MOVING
Josh Moore (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Our boat just got broke into for the second time in 8 months from 2 different storage places and this time the damaged lots of seats. My family could really use some good luck. :)

Ann Carter (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Raised our kids on the water from babies to adults...Now have added a new grandson (10 months old)... taking him out to continue the tradition... Would be fantastic to start and end the day wrapped in this blanket!

PRACTICAL
Ruth Scruton (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Those 6:00am early morning runs always looking for a blanket to keep us warm and cozy between runs:o)

Jim Mason (Malibu Facebook Fan)
That would be awesome at the end of a long day here on Lake Norman, it always seems that all the beach towels are sopping wet but no one wants to come in. Send it off to the Mason's and it will definitely get used this summer. Thanks

Brandon Carroll Noble (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Early season skiing with 38-40 degree water and 50 degree air temp, gotta love skiing in the Rockies blankets are always nice to have

Kyle Handy (Malibu Facebook Fan)
My two year old daughter needs something to keep her warm. She gets taken to the lake on every earlier morning run. And we like to start early so she is pretty chilly at 630 in the morning in April!!

Kristina Suetos Feldman (Malibu Facebook Fan)
For snuggling with the family while watching the sunset.

Mitchell Grunig (Malibu Facebook Fan)
For watching the stars late at night laying on the sundeck of my VLX on beautiful Lake Minniwaska

Ryan Henderson (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Every year, the Purdue Waterski Team host an Alumni Tournament (Current team vs Alumni). At the tourney, all the Alumni participate in an auction which the students put together. This auctions is the largest contribution (around 4 grand) for this team that gets them thier boat lease (a Malibu Response from Poncies Watersports in IN) every season... See More. Malibu willing, I would like to auction this off for the skiers at Purdue University (I am a skier alum from '08). I know it would mean a lot to the team! Thanks!

Craig Hillyard (Malibu Facebook Fan)
it would be great for keeping the girls warm on early runs in waterfall bay, nsw, australia. there are only 2 wakesetters in my area so anything to promote malibu and wakeboarding would be great.

Stu McK (Malibu Facebook Fan)
My number one reason to my girlfriend why I had to buy a Wakesetter last year... "Babe, its got a heater, a hot water shower, and a plexiglass windscreen." My old boat had none of these awesome features, and when boating on a river in Canada you definitely need these options! There`s nothing worse than having a cold and cranky girlfriend when your favorite thing in the world to do is cruise the river in a Wakesetter!

@MarcosTorresMT: (Malibu Twitter Follower)
That's why I need the Malibu Boats blanket! Or am I too late? Lol
Snug as a bug in a rug... @malibuboats

@macsales: (Malibu Twitter Follower)
@MalibuBoats Need the blanket because our Echelon doesn't have heat and only get to ski early in the AM before work - and I live to ski

SHORT & SWEET
Sonja Ziegler (Malibu Facebook Fan)
We boat in Minnesota. 'Nuff said. :)

Robert Reynaud (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Girls don't like to snuggle in wet towels.

Matthew Henderson (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Because i want one.

MALIBU PRIDE
Liz Brandt McAllister (Malibu Facebook Fan)
MALIBU ROCKS AND MAKES THE BEST WAKESETTER ON THE MARKET....Would be another great advertisement as we cruise the Chain of Lakes in northern Illinois!!

Laurie Nash Anderson (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Ooooo! I want this REALLY bad, not b/c I need it for warmth - hey, I live in TN, it's HOT in the summer here - I need it for the "cool" ness factor!!!! We already have the coolest boat on the lake ('07 wakesetter vlx), so why not add to the coolness with this really awesome blanket?!?!?!

Brad Targgart (Malibu Facebook Fan)
The only way to top off a run behind the best all around ski, wake, and footin boat, would be to wrap up in this blanket. Malibu stands for quality and performance. What better way to show pride in your ride but by having one of these on board for those cool morning runs, or late evening cruises . If this blanket is truly a one of a kind, then it just goes to along with its name....Malibu Boats.... There is nothing like a Malibu...

Lisa Barnes Dietrich (Malibu Facebook Fan)
Just ordered our 3rd Malibu, gonna try the Wakesetter hull this time! Can't wait; however, until the boat comes in we'll be shivering with anticipation for our wonderful new boat and all of the new gadgets that will keep us warm & cozy! Until then, ...we need something to keep us warm! Please, oh, please, I hope our boat gets done before Memorail Day weekend! :)

@CarwinArmy: (Malibu Twitter Follower)
@malibuboats I'll take it with me to #ufc116 and hold it up with my #teamcarwin sign!

Thanks again to all who posted their Malibu blanket reasons! We will be giving away Malibu swag from time to time this Spring and Summer. Keep your eyes on the Malibu Boats Twitter Channel and Facebook Fan Page for more opportunities to win.
