Malibu Pro Team Shines In TransWorld Reader's Poll

After winning the Red Bull Wake Open overall title and scoring the cover of TransWorld WAKEBOARDING's October 2012 issue, Raphael Derome landed in 8th place. With a hit series on MTV called WakeBrothers and multiple wins on the King Of Wake Tour, Phillip Soven took the 9th spot. Olivier Derome, with a prime time part in Slingshot's team video, LIPSMACK, rounded out the Reader's Poll in 10th.

After Amber Wing signed with Malibu in March 2012, this former Queen Of Wake had another stellar season on tour. Her worldwide popularity, sick style and engagement through social media helped her land in the top spot for women. Dallas Friday proved her vitality in the sport once again by securing the 3rd spot.

In wakeskating, Brian Grubb took a respectable 2nd place. With multiple podium finishes, popular web videos and appearances around the globe, Grubb had another impressive season and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Win A Piece of Wakeboarding History from Dallas Friday

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) is honoring the most successful female wakeboarder in history with an autographed Dallas Friday jersey give-a-way. Worn by Dallas during the 2008 Malibu Open, we thought this unique prize could help a lucky winner wave bye to the 2010 pro wakeboard season and begin looking forward to Dallas's return. Sing-up for the Malibu Boats Enews to enter to win. If you win and you follow Malibu Boats on Twitter or are a Malibu Boats fan on Facebook you'll receive a bonus Malibu Gear gift card.

Dallas's season was cut short by injury this year, but she is already well on her way back to World Champion condition. The doctors say she is making as many game changing moves in her recovery as she has in competitive wakeboarding. In 2008 she took home gold at the Malibu Open Wakeboard and Water Ski Championships in Michigan. That victory and the 2008 season was huge for Dallas as it was an amazing comeback from another much more serious injury. Dallas wore this rash guard jersey during all of her Malibu Open heats including the final round, where she shut the door on the competition.

Perfect for a game room, man cave or kid's room, this is a one-of-a-kind piece of sports memorabilia that will add to any pro wakeboarding enthusiast's collection. Do you have a wakeboarder on your gift list who is impossible to buy for? Enter them to win!

We're giving this signed Dallas Friday 2008 Malibu Open pro athlete jersey away on the last day of Summer: Tuesday, September 21, 2010. The winner will be chosen randomly from Malibu Boats email list sign-ups between now and September 20th. Malibu Boats will ship the signed Dallas Friday 2008 Malibu Open jersey to the randomly chosen winner no matter where they are in the world. If you win and you follow Malibu Boats on Twitter or are a fan on Facebook you'll receive a bonus $100 Malibu Gear gift card.

To enter, sign-up for the Malibu Boats Monthly Enewsletter. Each month you will receive an email featuring the latest news from Malibu Boats including new product information, fun photos and videos, as well as articles on Malibu Boats athletes, boat owners and events. You will even learn about boat promotions and Malibu Gear specials before anyone else. So sign-up for Malibu Enews and you will automatically be entered to win the autographed Dallas Friday 2008 Malibu Open jersey. Your piece of pro wakeboarding history could only be a "Send" button click away.

Winter Training Paying Off For Dallas Friday

Team Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Dallas Friday never does anything halfway! Even now, in the off season, she is constantly pushing everyday to better herself and her sport. Check out this video shot and edited by TheWakePlace.com (@TheWakePlace) of Dallas landing some monstrous moves behind her Wakesetter VLX!

Jonathan Pears from TheWakePlace.com had this to say about Dallas and this latest video. "Dallas Friday works hard at her sport, she lives and breathes it as much as she physically can. It has been the coldest winter in Florida for something like 25yrs, and even as we approach April, we are still in wetsuits. But that isn’t stopping riders like Dallas, and as this footage shows - its paying off! This was shot this morning (Tuesday 23rd March) and in the short words from Mike Ferraro you can see how windy it was. The 2 lines that Dallas threw down are insane, a nice jump forward in the female side of the sport for sure!"

Great video, Jonathan! And keep up the hard work Dallas! Where can you possibly go from legendary status? Immortal? Malibu Boats will be pulling for you when you reach it!

Malibu Wakeboarders Make INT Regionals Family Affair

The Cleburne Times Review recently posted an article featuring long-time WaterSki America customers and Malibu boat owners, the Cain Family. These Cleburne, TX wakeboarders recently competed in the INT Southeastern Invitational tournament in Little Rock, Ark as a family.

Marcus and Matthew Cain and father, Scott, all Texas state champions, competed against state champions from 10 other states. The event lasted three days.

Marcus Cain, a Cleburne High School student, won the first day of competition.

“The competition was stronger than anything I have encountered before,” he said, “but the atmosphere was very laid back and fun.”

The second day of riding brought a change of boats.

Marcus Cain stood up his first pass and landed his first toe-side 180 spin.

He had some trouble adjusting to the new boat’s wake but was one of the few riders to almost complete his second pass without a fall.

At the conclusion of the tournament, Marcus Cain held off a strong surge from the rest of the field to secure a third place overall finish.

“It felt really good making the podium at a national tournament,” he said.

He is sponsored by Malibu Boats and Waterski America and rides a Hyperlite board. He is coached by JoJo Lemberg and Scott Flanagan of the Wakeboard Coalition.

Matthew Cain, one of the youngest competitors at the event, secured an honorable mention award in the mini outlaw division.

“It was scary standing on the dock waiting for your turn,” he said, “but you just have to go through it.”

“We’re so proud of Marcus and Matthew,” said the boys’ mother, Chris Cain. “Watching from the shore, I was probably more nervous than the boys,” she said.

The INT is the world’s largest amateur competition for wakeboarding.

“Despite the rain, the riders had a great time,” Scott Cain said. “For me, it was a once in a lifetime event. It was great riding with my boys.”

The Cains plan to continue to wakeboard until Thanksgiving.

“Now that the competitions are over, we have to start training for next season,” Marcus Cain said. “I’m working on a back roll and some new spins for next year.”

When he’s not training, Marcus Cain spends his time on the water teaching others how to wakeboard.

“Marcus does a great job representing the sport,” said Scott Cain.

To read more about the wakeboarding Cain Family in the Cleburne Times Review.

Congratulations, Cain boys! Keep it up, Malibu Boats is cheering for you!

Team Malibu's Dallas Friday Featured in Orlando Magazine

Dallas Friday article excerpt provided by Orlando Magazine. Dallas Friday, 23, has won more than 60 professional wakeboarding titles, making her the all-time leader among women in the sport.

“I started in wakeboarding at 12. I did gymnastics before, but I kind of got over it. I wanted to try something new and my brothers got me into wakeboarding. I tried it and I absolutely loved it. I was drawn to it.”

“My first year [2000, when she was 13] on the pro tour I won an event down in West Palm Beach. I went from never making it into the finals to winning a pro tour stop. Crazy, huh? Finally it clicked at that contest.” Friday has dominated her sport ever since, winning almost every event she has entered. She won an ESPY award for Best Female Action Sports Athlete for 2004, and in July she won the gold medal in the female wakeboarding competition at the World Games in Taiwan.

The final stop of the Pro Wakeboard Tour went off in the greater Reno area of Sparks, Nevada over the weekend. Pro Female Rider, Dallas Friday also took home gold in her event earning a win at the Reno Stop after a four-year drought in "The Biggest Little City in the World". Dallas made up for her win-less streak in Reno, extended her lead in the Queen of Wake series to 25 points and put herself in prime position to take the five-stop pro tour for female wakeboarders.
