New Wakesetter Brings Big Wakes and More
Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) unveils the all-new 2011 Waksetter 247 LSV. The 2011 Wakesetter 247 LSV throws water on the competition with huge wakeboard and wakesurf wakes and some of the most ground-breaking innovations we’ve ever seen. The 247 LSV offers superior control and comfort inside the boat with Malibu Touch Command (MTC) and a new transom seating area. Malibu performance excels in this 24-footer with a digitally shaped bottom for precise handling, the L96 410hp engine for specifically calibrated power and the Shift by Wire Throttle system for fingertip control. The swell of pride you’ll feel with the new look of the Wakesetter 247 LSV is only matched by the swell this big wake behemoth creates behind the boat. Tone it down or ramp it all the way up with customizable Rider Presets. The 247 LSV wake will grow with your skill level behind the boat. The truth is on the water!

Wakes.
The largest of the Malibu wakeboard boats, the Wakesetter 247 LSV makes big wakes for professional-level wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Whether you’re looking to shoot the curl or launch off walls of water, the 247 LSV can more than accommodate. As big as this wake-maker is, the 247 LSV even offers versatile wake alternatives for aspiring riders.
With as much as 1450 pounds of hard tank, sub-floor ballast, the shape and size of the wakes can be adjusted with tank levels in four different areas of the boat. For even more tailor-made wakes, opt for the Patented Power Wedge and add another 400-1200 pounds of displacement with the push of a button. Controlled at the dash and adjusted in a matter of seconds, the Power Wedge slides along the wake spectrum from beginner to professional changing size and shape every step of the way.
Performance.
You might expect a 24-foot 7-inch luxury water sports boat with room for 17 to be a challenge to handle-- not if it’s a Malibu. Precise electronic throttle and shift join fingertip steering for effortless flat turning. Built on a hull optimized for smooth ride and precision handling as much as big wakes, the Wakesetter 247 is as nimble as it is a wake maker.
Tower.
The Wakesetter 247 LSV’s tower is not just an accessory. The Illusion G3 Tower is designed and built in-house at Malibu Boats to appear and function as an extension of the boat. The industry exclusive weightless fold-down is as usable as it is innovative. Voted WakeWorld.com’s Riders Choice Innovation of the Year, the Illusion G3 is as groundbreaking as it is purposeful. Standard Titan Spinner combo racks welcome wakeboards, surfboards and wakeskates of varied thicknesses. Add available lights, speakers, a second set of racks and even a rearview rider camera to the G3. This potentially accessory-heavy tower is anything but, thanks to the gas springs at its core allowing it to raise and lower with little to no effort. The stainless steel tubing and coated billet aluminum construction provides strength for piece of mind and a style that screams Malibu even from across the lake.
Dash.
The 2011 dash looks bad in a good way! You’ve never seen a dash like the one you’ll find in a 2011 Wakesetter 247 LSV. Two-tone, hand-wrapped and studded in stainless steel the Malibu Boats dash is an extra step that is noticeably worth it. Not only does Malibu carry their high performance look through to the interior, function follows.
The MTC projective capacitive touch screen combined with the new Italian-made Isotta Vista Steering Wheel, the available MaliView Dash System and the optional Rockford Fosgate Stereo touch pad are just a few of the heroes on this dash. Now consider the functionality they deliver and it’s almost unbelievable. The dash offers intuitive control over nearly all of the boat’s functions with Malibu firsts like Rider Presets combining this control in customizable rider profiles. MaliView and the Rockford Fosgate Sound System have been upgraded for 2011 to include USB video playback and increased iPod®/iPhone® control. Just when you think boat design has been taken as far as it can go, Malibu Boats does it one better.
Malibu Touch Command.
The new Malibu Touch Command (MTC) is amazing on so many different levels; what it is, what it does and the fact that it is standard on all Wakesetters including the new 247 LSV. Made with Projective Capacitive Touch Technology typically reserved for high-end personal digital devices, you won’t find a feature like MTC in a high performance car let alone anywhere else in the boating industry. Malibu Boats is way ahead of the game with touch-sensitive switching based on intuitive hi-res graphical menus of the boat’s functions. Command ballast control, Wedge adjustment, interior lighting, coded keyless ignition, available GPS navigation and more through Malibu Touch Command.
Ignition.
Forget the keys. Go ahead. You won’t need them in your 2011 Wakesetter 247 LSV. All Malibu Wakesetters have keyless ignition standard. Type in your code; touch the “Start Engine” icon and motor. No more worries about getting to the lake and forgetting the keys. Malibu’s got you covered.
Power.
The new L96 6.0L makes its home in the new 247 LSVs standard. With 410 horsepower, this Indmar engine pulls every water sport you’re into with 400 foot-pounds of torque. Low-end power or top-end speed, the L96’s Variable Valve Timing (VVT) automatically adjusts giving you the absolute best performance in either situation. If you’re looking to upgrade your 247 power Malibu offers the Supercharged LSA 6.2L. This 550 horsepower engine tops Malibu’s list of engine options as the first production supercharged Gen-IV small block engine the marine industry has ever seen. With 545 ft-lb of torque the LSA doesn’t mess around.
Interior.
Malibu engineers created a cab-forward design to increase the lounge area by 30% more than any other boat in its class. And while a lot of attention has been paid to the common seating area of the Wakesetter 247 LSV, the bow and new transom seating is just as comfortable and roomy as any other spot. The bow transforms into a playpen with the addition of the removable filler cushion. The new rear-facing transom seating provides a comfortable front row seat complete with convenient cup holders and more swimstep-accessible wet storage. The Wakesetter 247 LSV is geared for the social lifestyle that tends to follow wake sports, but to achieve a true tribe vibe you also need tunes.
Available 8” Rockford Fosgate M2 full-range speakers add the perfect amount of punch to the Wakesetter 247 LSV. Exclusive to the new 247 LSV interior, these 8" speakers are UV and moisture-resistant for great performance in harsh marine environments. Great sound, good looks and an element hardy design make them irresistible.
Look.
Moving or still, the new body design of the Wakesetter 247 LSV presents an aggressive shape with sharp lines. Eight color areas can be customized with 21 gel coat colors to make a Malibu boat that is all you. The leaned-back style of the MH4 windshield contributes to the impressive style. Custom designed and branded fresh air vents work with the new lines of the 247 to create a look as incredible as the boat itself. The forward swept Illusion G3 wakeboard tower gives your 247 LSV that unmistakable Malibu look even from a distance. The outline of the boat can only be upstaged by the shining three dimensional “Wakesetter” graphics with that signature “WS”. The new 2011 Wakesetter 247 LSV is a showpiece that performs!

Riders Vote Malibu Boat of the Year
The Wakesetter VLX is no stranger to Boat of the Year Awards and Malibu Boats has received a number of other big awards lately, but this latest honor holds some special significance for the world’s #1 selling water sports boat manufacturer. The Riders Choice Award was voted on by the people who use Malibu wakeboard boats. This is why the VLX earned Rider’s Choice Boat of the Year on WakeWorld.com. Malibu’s brand of performance, comfort and style built in to this year’s Wakesetter VLX turned out to be all the “get out the vote” effort needed.

The 10th annual WakeWorld Riders Choice Awards presented by CWB Board Co. was the biggest ever. For the 10th consecutive year WakeWorld gave riders the opportunity to share their opinions on Pro Riders and wake sport products. Participants visited WakeWorld.com and cast their votes during the entire month of August. In addition to the Malibu’s Illusion G3 Wakeboard Tower being voted Innovation of the Year, the Wakesetter VLX earned top honors as the Riders Choice Boat of the Year.
After 19 PowerBoat Magazine Boat of the Year Awards you’d think earning an honor like Riders Choice Boat of the Year would be no big deal. Malibu Boats doesn’t think so. They see this latest award as another step up in the steady climb they have been on. After winning Manufacturer of the Year and a number of other industry awards earlier this month as well as having the Illusion G3 voted Riders Choice Innovation of the Year, Malibu Boat has a lot momentum heading into the Fall season.
When asked about the Wakesetter VLX being voted Riders Choice Boat of the Year, Paul Singer, VP of Sales and Marketing for Malibu Boats, had this to say. “Even though this award comes along with several other big honors we’ve recently received, I can’t tell you how much it means to us! Being voted the best by end users is huge!”

Rider's Chose Illusion G3 Tower as Innovation of the Year
The Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Illusion G3 continues to tower above competitor wakeboard tower offerings even according to riders themselves. The G3 weightless fold-down tower was voted Rider’s Choice Innovation of the Year on WakeWorld.com. Malibu Boats signature forward swept design; stout stainless steel tube and billet build, standard swivel combo racks and in-house construction make this wakeboard boat tower unique. What throws it into the “Innovative” category is weightless fold-down to standard garage height. Awards like WakeWorld.com’s Rider’s Choice mean a lot to the Malibu Boats Family. Customer satisfaction is why they continue to push the limits of design and function every year, which is what they have done for 2011.
In addition to being voted Rider’s Choice Boat of the Year, Malibu Boats took home Innovation of the Year for the Illusion G3 wakeboard boat tower.
Dave Williams, Editor of WakeWorld.com, wrote, “The Innovation of the Year brought another win for Malibu Boats as their new Illusion G3 tower topped the voting.”
The Illusion G3 can be collapsed in seconds with little instruction. The gas spring assisted design of the G3 tower allows for weightless fold-down. A single person can collapse this tower and does not have to be strong to do it. The Illusion G3 is so light, even with optional accessories like two pairs of Malibu Titan Alpha II speakers and an extra set of Titan Slide-of Spinner racks installed the tower can be folded with fingertips.
The Illusion G3 takes tower design and you to new heights with hybrid construction that marries the strength of all weather coated billet aluminum with the resilience and beauty of 3” stainless steel tubing. The billet tower bases and wings add another unique element of strength and style to this exclusive tower. The first tower to combine these two materials, the Illusion G3 is as much a product of strong components as it is a precision built Malibu wakeboard boat feature. The Illusion G3 is also the only wakeboards boat manufacturer built tower in the industry, which allows Malibu to control quality and cost.
When asked about the Illusion G3 being voted Rider’s Choice Innovation of the Year, Paul Singer, VP of Sales and Marketing for Malibu Boats, had this to say. “An award like this means more to us than just about any other because it is determined by the end user. There’s no better high-five for the Malibu Boats Family than an award like WakeWorld’s Rider’s Choice. We are grateful to all who voted and we will keep working hard to continue to push limits!”
Malibu Boats was extremely honored to have the Illusion G3 voted Rider’s Choice innovation of the Year on WakeWorld.com, but that recognition doesn’t mean the innovation stops. For 2011 Malibu Boats has pushed the limits of tower design even farther by offering this award-winning tower in white. Other 2011 G3 tower advancements include the available Flow-cam Rear View Rider Camera system, Wet Sounds Alpha II speakers as well as more wakeboard rack options. Malibu’s Illusion innovation continues.

Malibu Boats Pushing Limits with 2011 Model Line-up
2011 might be Malibu Boats’ most groundbreaking model year to date. From subtle details to huge industry-altering developments, Malibu engineers have just kept pushing when it comes to their wakeboard and water ski boats. When others were throttling back Malibu was dropping the hammer on more performance, technology and innovation. The result is a pair of new water sports boats, new features that obsolete the word “standard” and new options that push Malibu boat customization past the limit.
Don't just take our word for it... Check out the 2011 Model reaction on WakeWorld.com and on TheMalibuCrew.com.
New Wakesetter & Sunscape 247 LSV
Malibu Boats put even more stretch into these limos with room for 17. The Wakestter and Sunscape 247 LSVs have been redesigned inside and out. A new helm offers the driver a performance car look and feel while the new transom seating adds another fun place to hangout with more swimstep accessible wet storage. Get customize for no extra charge choosing between the WetTek floor with snap-out carpet and the Mantex floor with hull-to-hull carpeting. Lined with more hand-covered parts, the new interior features LED-lit stainless emblems and has the ability to accept new optional 8” Rockford Fosgate Full-range speakers. A new MH2 frameless windshield and special fresh air vents work with the new lines of the 247s to create a look as incredible as their performance. Performance that kicks-up monstrous wakes at wakeboarding and wakesurfing speeds, gives you great recreational skiing at slalom speeds and handling that rivals a much smaller water sports boat.
Paul Singer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Malibu Boats, had this to say about the new model year introductions. "We're not going to lie, we like to keep everyone playing catch up but our real joy comes from giving our customer our very best." Singer explained, "You see at some point, the force of innovation overtakes the laws of convention. In the 2010 Malibu line that point was near the center deck in the form of the G3 Tower. The first ever forward swept tower received the first-ever gas assisted shocks for easy fold-down. In the 2011 Malibu line that point is on the dash featuring the first ever 6.5" touch screen for control of a myriad of safety and performance systems. We call it MTC or Malibu Touch Command but we think you will call it amazing."
New Malibu Touch Command (MTC)
The new Malibu Touch Command (MTC) is amazing on so many different levels; what it is, what it does and the fact that it is standard on all Wakesetters and Sunscapes.
New Coded Keyless Ignition
Forget the keys. Go ahead. You won’t need them in a 2011 Malibu boat. All Malibu Wakesetter and Sunscape models have keyless ignition standard. Type in your code, touch the “Start Engine” icon and motor. No more worries about getting to the lake and forgetting the keys. Malibu’s got you covered.
New Dash & Components
Performance aside, the 2011 dash looks bad in a good way! You’ve never seen a dash like the one you’ll find in a 2011 Malibu boat. The MTC projective capacitive touch screen combined with the new Italian-made Isotta Vista Steering Wheel, the available MaliView Dash System and Rockford Fosgate Stereo touch pad; let it all sink in. Now consider the functionality housed in this dash and it’s almost unbelievable. MaliView and the Rockford Fosgate Sound System have even been upgraded for 2011 to include USB video playback and increased iPod/iPhone control. Just when you think boat design has been taken as far as it can go, Malibu Boats does it one better.
New Power LSA & L96
The new L96 6.0L (410 HP) pulls every water sport you’re into with 400 foot-pounds of torque. Low-end power or top-end speed, the L96’s Variable Valve Timing (VVT) automatically adjusts giving you the absolute best performance in either situation. And because Malibu powers boats with standard engines that are built specific and anything but standard, this one makes its home in the new 247 LSVs. The Supercharged LSA 6.2L (550 HP) tops Malibu’s list of engine options as the first production supercharged Gen-IV small block engine the marine industry has ever seen. With 545 ft-lb of torque the LSA doesn’t mess around and is available in all 23-247 foot Wakesetters and Sunscapes.
New White Illusion G3 Tower & Accessories
The G3 tower set 2010 on fire with insane popularity for durability, function and design. The Illusion G3 Gas Spring Assisted Tower follows the lines of a Malibu boat so well you can now get it in black or white. To finish the custom look, Malibu Titan Tower accessories like lights and speakers can be colored to match.
New Flo-cam Rear View Rider Camera System
The Malibu Boats Flo-cam Rear View Rider Camera System pushes the limits of typical action sports cameras way outside the box. This smooth swiveling camera follows the athlete in tow with fluid motion. The Flo-cam can be adjusted to your water sport of choice and is viewable live or recorded through the MaliView Dash System. Captured footage is easily editable and the camera itself can be used in any number of action sports situations thanks to its multi-dimensional design. Watch yourself reach new heights behind a 2011 Malibu boat.

WakeWorld Haunting Riders With New Malibu Boat
WakeWorld (@WakeWorld) Nation calls it “The Ghost,” but this new 2010 Malibu Wakesetter VLX is no apparition. It is a real wake-making machine and once again the official tow boat for wakeboarding’s longest running online magazine. WakeWorld.com just recently chose Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) as their official wakeboard boat for the 5th consecutive year. Already creating a posting frenzy on WakeWorld.com’s discussion board, this Wakesetter VLX will be featured on the web site in extreme detail over the next year. Viewers can learn all about Malibu’s flagship wakeboard boat online as well as check it out on the waters of So Cal.
Check out the WakeWorld’s Ghost Video on the Malibu Boats YouTube Channel. Or click through some photos of WakeWorld's new VLX on the Malibu Boats Flickr.com channel. Learn more about some of the exclusive Malibu Boats features the 2010 Wakesetter VLX has to offer like the MaliView 6.5” Dash System, the new Illusion G3 Weightless Fold-down Wakeboard Tower and the Patented Power Wedge.
They call it “The Ghost” because the WakeWorld.com Malibu VLX is all white. That and because it haunts the waters of Southern California with big scary customizable wakes in addition to a boatload of new 2010 Malibu innovations. This year’s WakeWorld.com VLX rocks a weightless fold-down Illusion G3 tower with four new Titan Slide-off Spinner Racks, a new color-matched fiberglass floor with snap-out carpet, new Wakesetter hull graphics, the new MaliView 6.5” Dash System with video and the protection of Malibu Boats Salt Water Package, just to name a few features. The WakeWorld.com boat appears to be floating even in tow thanks to the loaded bright white Tandem Axle Salt Water Trailer built by Boatmate.
This is the 5th time in the last five years WakeWorld.com has chosen the Malibu Boats Wakesetter VLX as the site’s official wakeboard boat. And according to Dave Williams, WakeWorld.com’s Owner/Editor, this is why he continues to make Malibu Boats his choice. “Probably the biggest reason why I think this [Malibu Wakesetter VLX] is the best boat out there is the fact that you can flip a few switches or engage a Rider Preset and you've got a wake that's got a great shape and is more than big enough for 90% of the riders out there. The VLX is good to go right out of the box!”
WakeWorld.com Discussion, one of the most trafficked rider discussion boards online, was the first forum to publish photos of the site’s new wakeboard boat. That should be expected, but the photos were posted before Williams had even seen his new boat. The images were posted by a WakeWorld.com subscriber. The VLX happened to make a few stops at other Malibu Boats Dealerships before arriving in So Cal. Photos were snapped, posted and the rave reviews began.
When Williams finally saw his new Wakesetter VLX in person this is how he reacted. “I was blown away before the cover even came off!” Williams explained, “Not only did the Boatmate trailer look unbelievable, but the hull has some great new angles that look really sharp.” Williams went on, “Of course, once the cover came off and the tower went up, I was even more impressed.”
WakeWorld.com has been online since 1996 and the site’s content includes news, articles, interviews with pros and local riders, board and binding buyers guides, trick lists and tips, tournament info, rider event details, wakeboard school info, contests and giveaways and much more. WakeWorld.com hosts over 150,000 visitors per month and is growing along with big wake water sports.
If you’re not in a position to witness the WakeWorld.com Ghost on the water in Southern California take a trip to your local Malibu Boats Dealer to check out the 2010 Wakesetter VLX in person.

Unbelievably Short Malibu Illusion G3 Fold-down Tutorial
No need to settle in for this one. The Malibu Illusion G3 Fold-down Tutorial is short and sweet, not to mention easy and safe. The gas spring assisted design of the Illusion G3 renders the tower weightless for an unbelievably convenient fold-down procedure. We have created a short video to illustrate this fact. The star of the video is the Illusion G3, but the gal that makes it all happen is Nicolette. Nicolette is the receptionist at the California Malibu Boats Factory and she was given very little instruction before filming commenced. When watching the video you will notice just how easy the fold-down process is. It can be accomplished by a single person with next to no experience.
Fold-down Procedure: 1) Unscrew the Allen bolt one either side securing the tower to the bases. 2) Pull the tower to the folded position.
That about wraps it up. Any questions?
The process is so simple we threw in a quick tutorial on Titan Spinner Rack operation and the "Slide-off" removal. That's easy too.

Malibu Boats Revolutionizes Wakeboard Towers Again
Check out this gallery of Illusion G3 images on the Malibu Boats flickr channel.
The new Illusion G3 can be collapsed in seconds with little instruction. The gas spring assisted design of the G3 tower allows for weightless fold-down. A single person can collapse this tower and does not have to be strong to do it. The Illusion G3 is so light, even with optional accessories like two pairs of Titan Alpha II speakers and an extra set of Titan Slide-of Spinner racks installed the tower can be folded with fingertips.
When a Titan Slide-off Spinner Wakeboard Rack is in use a slight tug on the swivel pin directs the rack to spin and lock for easy loading and unloading of boards. Pull the pin again and the rack swivels back into place. Complete with combo forks, the Titan Slide-off Spinner can accommodate both a surfboard and wakeboard on each side. The racks can also slide off their tower mounts for quick storage. And the first pair of Titan Slide-off Spinner racks are standard on every Illusion G3. The tower can host as many as four racks while preserving its weightless fold-down feature.
The new Illusion G3 takes tower design and you to new heights with hybrid construction that marries the strength of all-weather coated billet aluminum with the resilience and beauty of 3” stainless steel tubing. The billet tower bases and wings add another unique element of strength and style to this exclusive tower. The first tower to combine these two materials, the Illusion G3 is as much a product of strong components as it is a precision built Malibu wakeboard boat feature.
The new Illusion G3 tower preserves the innovative characteristics of Illusion Towers past with the forward-sweeping design that produces the look of sleek motion even when the boat is completely still. This design also affords the driver more visibility, which is priority #1 on a busy waterway. The G3 even features pre-routed wiring so accessories additions are a snap.
