The first wakeboard event of its kind to truly designate professional riders from their amateur counterparts, the Malibu Boats WWA Pro Card program kicks off in the sport’s mecca, Orlando, on April 13. The one-day card qualifier, held at one of the sport’s newest and freshest venues, Freedom Wake Park, allows riders a chance to earn a 2013 WWA Malibu Pro Card and qualify to ride in any WWA Pro Men division contest anywhere in the world.
Plenty of amazing riding will be going down at Freedom, a new Orlando training complex and home site of pros Cobe and Tara Mikacich. Win Chad Sharpe’s Gear from SBC Wakeboard Magazine

Team Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Pro Rider Chad Sharpe (@ChadESharpe) had gone from being the brash young punk who had his title stripped from him at Nationals back in the late-90’s to the elder statesman of the Canadian wake scene. Chad doesn’t get back to Canada very much these days with his busy schedule of competing, shooting photos, editing video for his website, funwhenwet.com and being part owner of Ronix, but that doesn’t mean he’s lost any of his national pride. Chad still manages to get out on the ice and play hockey a few times a week in sunny Orlando. And speaking of hockey, that ties in nicely to our skill testing question for this contest.

The Question
Before he got into wakeboarding, Chad was really good at hockey; what position did he play?

The Gear
Ronix Viva Board
Ronix Cell Bindings
Ronix Totem handle & R8 Rope
Billabong Medly Vest
Billabong clothing prize pack
Spy sunglasses and prize pack
Bern Baker Wake Edition Helmet
Rockstar Energy prize pack
Malibu Boats RC toy boat & prize pack.

Learn more on the SBC Wakeboard Magazine web site. Good luck!

Video: Sharpe & Errington Ridin' Ronix Behind Malibu

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) and Ronix (@Ronix) Pro Rider, Chad Sharpe (@ChadESharpe) took the opportunity to grab a set with fellow Ronix Pro Rider Adam Errington (@AdamErrington1) in front of Brent Brinkerhoff's HD Cam. Check out this great wakeboarding video on Vimeo.

Brinkerhoff jumped at the chance to film two of Ronix's top wakeboarders. According to Brinkerhoff, "On the first decent day of the week, the lighting wasn't perfect, but the water was butter..." They filmed this video behind the Wakesetter VLX on Sharpe's lake in Orlando, Florida.

Great video guys!!!!

Soven Lands a Whale of a Move Behind Malibu VLX

Team Malibu Pro and Winner of the Malibu OpenLast night we received word that Team Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Pro Rider Phillip Soven (@PhillipSoven) landed a Moby Dick 7 behind Kevin Henshaw's (@KevinHenshaw) Wakesetter VLX. Kevin also rides for the Malibu Boats team. Phillip was riding with him in Clermont, FL yesterday afternoon when he harpooned the big fish... a Moby Dick 7!

A typical Moby Dick is a wakeboard move that combines a Tantrum with a handle pass backside 360. This move was co-invented by former Malibu Boats pro rider Brannan Johnson. (explanation provided by StokeCity.ca) The Moby Dick 7 that Phillip was the first to land yesterday joined a typical Moby Dick with an additional handle pass backside 360! That is a Tantrum plus 720 degrees of rotation. You have get pretty high to do all that. Leave it to the Wakesetter VLX wake to help make it happen.

Phillip Tweeted this reaction after landing the monumental move.
@PhillipSoven: Woooh just hit the first moby dick 7 behind henshaws @malibuboats vlx there's a reason I ride for them can't beat that wake!

Kevin just returned to Florida from a 3-month road trip and yesterday was the first time he put his Wakesetter VLX on the water since leaving. What a way to get back at it! His newly launched VLX pulled the first Moby Dick 7.

The guys did capture video of Phillip sticking this never before landed move. It should be posted on http://WakeboardingMag.com soon and we will link to it from the Malibu Boats blog. Congratulations, Phillip! We're so proud of you and you too Kev!
