Hangtime with Larson Marine

This Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) cool shot of a Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV was sent to us from Craig Larson from Larson Marine. They had this Malibu hanging over 100 feet in the air by a crane right next to I-5 in Stockton, CA for their National Demo Day April 30th and May 1st. Craig told us they had a great turnout despite the windy weather conditions.

Thank you Craig for sending us this great shot!

If you capture or come across a cool Malibu Boats-related photo like this one let us know. We would love to post it on the Malibu Boats Blog and Flickr Channel. We will even Tweet about it on Twitter and add it to the ever-changing Malibu Boats Screen Saver. You can also submit your photo or video through our Malibu iPhone App.

E-mail blog@malibuboats.com with links and/or images. Also make sure to include the name of the person who took the shot and give us a short description of the photo's contents. If you do not know this information and you are only forwarding a link, we can track it down. Thanks!

Girls Ride the Wake Recap from WakeWorld.com

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) pulled the Girls Ride the Wake (@GirlsRideWake) event in Northern California earlier this month. It was a big success! WakeWorld.com (@WakeWorld) just posted this recap. Great article! Check out the full Girls Ride the Wake article and images too.

For two years now all the girl riders in Northern California get together at a lake just outside of Sacramento called Camp Far West for an annual weekend event called Girls Ride the Wake. Even though I'm not a girl, I got the chance to sneak in for a day to check out all the festivities and I must say that Becky Carter did an amazing job putting all of it together. It was a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be.

Shelby KantarJust over 50 girls from all over the west coast had a blast and got the chance to ride and learn from some of the best female wakeboarders in the game today. Names like Shelby Kantar, Raequel and Shawna Hoffman, Jenacee Jackson, Danni Petraitis, Evelyn Nelson and Andrea Tomcik Ensminger were the stars and coaches of the weekend. These female pros switched in and out of four different Malibu and Axis boats the whole weekend spreading their knowledge and even getting to show all the girls how it's done themselves.

In addition to the four boats that Malibu forked out, Pulldozer winches provided a winch for pulling the girls over some rails and random objects next to shore, which most of the time was pure entertainment as there were some serious crashes going down. Up on shore The Liquid Playground and Hyperlite wakeboards had a booth demoing boards and even selling boards to anyone who felt like having a new board in their life.

Girls Ride The Wake After day one came to an end and the sun was on its way down to China, everyone gathered around the BBQ for some good ol’ fashioned burger eating. The crew then gathered around a giant production screen to watch the new Body Glove video, Slick City, which, of course, featured the one and only Shelby Kantar. When the video was finished, it didn’t take long for everyone to scatter to their tents and get some shut eye since it had been an extremely long day in the sun and they all had to do it again the next day.

Shawna Hoffman Day two started off bright and early with all the girls ready and raring to go along the shoreline. I had the chance to hop in the boat with Shawna Hoffman and her crew for the morning session. I got to watch Shawna coach the girls and even show them how it was really done by taking her own set. However, I must say that Shawna did a great job helping out all the ladies with, not only their riding, but showing them a good time.

When it was time to head in it was pretty much time to head out as well since most of the boats were already back in and everyone was gone. Again, Becky did an awesome job and did a lot of hard work to keep the stoke going for the grass roots of women's wakeboarding by putting on this event and getting all the sponsors which included Malibu Boats, Larson Marine, Hyperlite Wakeboards, WakeWorld.com, Screen Designs, The Liquid Playground, Fifty1Fifty, Wake Fitness Bootcamps, Belter Insurance and Fast Forward Cylinder Heads. So keep your eyes and ears open around this time next year because I'm sure you will be hearing about year three of Girls Ride The Wake.

Malibu Dealers Announce Ladies Day Events

Malibu Boats Ladies Day EventsWhile many female Malibu boaters (@MalibuBoats) are seasoned veterans on the water, the confidence and skill they possess did not happen on it’s own. They were taught and in many cases by a Malibu Boats Dealer. A group of dealers have been so successful teaching ladies proper Malibu boat operation they have established annual events just for this purpose. These Ladies Day events are not only informative, they are a boatload of fun and there are no boys allowed in class. In Malibu boats girls learn to drive, dock and trailer at many of these events. Some dealers also teach women how to pull a rider and/or skier. And some Ladies Day events take it a step further teaching the gals to wakeboard. Malibu Boats Ladies Day events provide fun pressure-free instruction by individuals trained in Malibu boat operation. Check out a Ladies Day event near you!

2010 Ladies Day Event Info

6/19/2010 - Paris Marine LTD - Peterborough, ON Canada
6/23/2010 - Main Channel Marina - Syracuse, IN

7/31/2010 - Larson Marine & Girls Ride the Wake – Wheatland, CA

Malibu Boats Dealers are patient and accustomed to training men and women on a regular basis. They know how to break down the functions of a Malibu boat and teach them thoroughly, but simply without any pressure. These are classes designed for groups of women so no one is on their own. The girls will learn together and have a boatload of fun in the process.

The event’s activities depend on the dealer, but many of them focus on basic boat driving including docking, general driving and loading the boat on a trailer. Some dealers will also teach the tricks to pulling someone; a rider, skier and/or tuber. Still other women’s events like the one offered by Girls Ride the Wake (@GirlsRideWake) in cooperation with Northern California Malibu Boats Dealer Larson Marine, focus on teaching girls to wakeboard and improving their riding through professional athlete instruction.

Some Malibu Boats Dealers have been hosting Ladies Day events for years. Rob Falgout, owner of Central Texas Water Sports, explained the motive behind his Ladies Day event in Austin, TX. “We heard that some of our female customers weren’t comfortable driving, docking, pulling riders, etc. They would tell us they’d love to be able to go out during the week when their significant other is at work, but didn’t think they could do it. We thought that was such a shame. It’s summertime, the kids are out of school, you have brand new boat, but you’ll only use it on the weekends because you have to have the ‘man of the house’ to use the boat? No, that’s just not acceptable.”

While each Malibu Dealer’s Ladies Day event is unique, the common denominator is fun! They want to help all of the women have fun on the day of the event as well as in their Malibu boats for years to come. To find out more about a Ladies Day event near you contact your nearest Malibu Boats Dealer or email blog@malibuboats.com for more information.

Belter Ins, Malibu & Larson Marine Quest for the Cure

Belter Insurance partners with Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) and Larson Marine will Sponsor local Quest for the Cure.

Some of the best-known names in Northern California boating are teaming up to fight a terrible affliction called Frontotemporal demenia, or FTD, by participating in the annual Walter Charitable Fund Quest for the Cure golf event.

FTD has been described by one caregiver as “cancer of the soul.” It strikes young (on average in a person’s 50s, but sometimes as young as the 20s) and at the essence of who a person is: their language, personality, behaviors, and ability to connect emotionally with those who are closest to them.

Belter Insurance, through the support of Stockton’s Larson Marine and Malibu Boats, is hoping that it’s participation can help the cause. The trio is sponsoring a Hole-In-One prize of a 2010 Malibu V-Ride, a high-performance watersports boat made in Merced.

“The Walter Family is synonymous with the local community, and many of them have been stricken with this horrible disease,” said Mitch Belter. “If we can raise awareness and funds so that others can combat this little-understood mental curse, we’re delighted to do it in their honor.”

The golf event is Monday, April 26th, at Rocklin’s Whitney Oaks Golf Club. For more information, contact Belter Insurance at 530-934-7777.
