Santa Sticks a Railey Behind a Malibu in Orlando

Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Dealer, Liquid Sports Marine (@LiquidSportsFL) posted this sweet video on their YouTube Channel. At first it just looks like a blinged-out Wakesetter all decorated up for Christmas, but as the camera pans... you'll see why this video has the title Santa Railey. He's really doing one behind the boat. Over and over. Check it out! Merry Christmas!

Wakesetter VLX Honored for Excellent Design

Wakesetter VLX Earns Excellence in Design AwardMalibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) will be receiving a 2nd consecutive Excellence in Design Award from Trailer Boats Magazine. This year the judges were stunned by the design of the 2010 Wakesetter VLX. Malibu was selected as the winner in the Wakeboard Boat category after a detailed evaluation process completed by the industry’s top boat design engineers. This latest industry award represents Malibu Boats 28th received for product excellence and the second award bestowed on the Wakesetter VLX wakeboard boat just this year.

Jim Hendricks Publisher and Editorial Director of Trailer Boats Magazine said, “It is our pleasure to announce that the Malibu Wakesetter VLX is the Trailer Boats Excellence in Design Wakeboard Boat Award Winner for 2010.” He continued, “We would like to thank Malibu Boats for pushing the limits of boat design. It is this kind of forward thinking that the Trailer Boats Excellence in Design Awards program is intended to recognize and encourage. Malibu’s achievement is exemplary...”

In 2009 the Malibu Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V was chosen for the Excellence in Design award. Although the 2010 Wakesetter VLX has big shoes to fill, it will be featured in January the issue of Trailer Boats Magazine as well as on TrailerBoats.com.

Since the company’s inception, the pride Malibu Boats has taken in its products has netted recognition throughout the industry. All told, the company has accumulated 19 Boat of the Year Awards and 28 product excellence awards. Yet, Malibu’s pursuit for perfection never stops.

Paul Singer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Malibu Boats, explains this phenomenon, "These awards are a great pat on the back for us, but as soon as the high fives are spent, we get right back at it. There are so many more innovations that our engineers are working to perfect. They are competitive by nature and these awards just push them to develop that next industry first."

The 2010 Wakesetter VLX earned this latest award with inspired innovation and design. The available MaliView Dash System with 6.5 LCD and video capability joins the patented wake-making Power Wedge and customizable Rider Presets to accommodate different styles and levels of riding with ease. All the first of their kind, these designs have changed the water sports industry. The new Illusion G3 Tower is standard on the VLX and also poised to change boat building forever. This wakeboard tower is designed with gas spring assist to create an easy one-person fold-down in seconds. Malibu’s SV23 Wake Hull design also played a part in securing the Excellence in Design honor by creating big pro-level wakes while optimizing ride and handling. Then factor in the look of the VLX with its Corvette inspired cove in the hull and the aggressive lines that scream performance even on the trailer. The interior design is something out of a luxury sports car, but Malibu Boats designers have not compromised storage room or comfort for this look and feel. The design excellence of the 2010 Wakesetter VLX goes on and on.

Jake Owen's Malibu Wilder Than Any 8 Second Ride

Jake Owen and Dog Vern in VLXCountry Singer Jake Owen (@JakeOfficial), RCA Nashville Recording Artist, loves his 2009 Wakesetter VLX. Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Louisiana Team Rider, Chad Scott, just emailed us this link to JakeOwen.net and a great video Jake did for ABC during Nashville Nights at the end of the summer.

Jake purchased his 2009 Wakesetter VLX through TNT Watersports in Nashville, TN where he lives. Jake is an avid wakeboarder. As you can see in the video he likes to surf too. During the warm months of the year he pulls his Wakesetter VLX behind his tour bus in search of any opportunity to ride. Jake puts over 200 hours on his boat every year. With an extremely busy Country Music Superstar schedule that is is no small feat!

Jake's new hit song, 8 Second Ride from his album Easy Does It, is #13 on Billboard.com's Country Music Top 30. And this song has been on the list for 27 weeks!

Malibu Corvette Boat Reaches Limit

The name Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Corvette Limited Sport-V always suggested that this Malibu boat wouldn’t be available forever. That time has come. The last Corvette boat has motored off the assembly line and this storied production run is officially over. Nearly two years and 50 boats later, the Malibu Corvette Limited Sport-V has earned the awards and World-renown recognition befitting a cultural icon. And while a few production Corvette boats are available at select Malibu Boats dealerships, most of these boats have found homes. Those owners have their rare piece of Americana as well as the satisfaction that comes with obtaining a true collectors item.

Check out the Malibu Corvette Photos the Malibu Boats Flickr Channel.

Produced from December 2007 through November 2009, the Corvette Limited Sport-V was the fastest production towboat ever created. The Corvette truly embodied Malibu Boats “Pushing Limits” mantra. The 505hp Corvette LS7 came standard in the Z06 Edition Malibu Corvette pushed the success of this Malibu boat even further. But this innovative performance machine is more than power and speed.

Dubbed, “the Corvette that runs on water,” this Malibu boat is truly a Corvette. It was not just styled after the C6 Corvette. Every part of this vessel screams Corvette. The Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V was the epitome of Corvette Americana with a long list of powerfully innovative features. A Patented Power Wing Windshield, authentic Corvette high-back seats, an 8-speaker Malibu-Rockford Fosgate Stereo System, rear vents styled after the Corvette taillights and designed for through-hull ventilation, the signature Corvette “Cove” and a hood modeled after the car, which opened to reveal a specific storage center and the core of the stereo system.

While in production the Corvette Limited Sport-V earned Trailer Boats Magazine’s Excellence in Design Award as well as the attention of automotive and marine media around the world. This boat was not some hokey adaptation, the Malibu Corvette Boat was a real Corvette and the amazing reaction it received befitted such a boat.

While the acclaimed Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V is no longer being built, there are a small number of Malibu Boats Dealerships who have a Malibu Vet on display. If you never experienced the Malibu Corvette Boat in person stop by and take a look at this performance water sports machine up close and personal. Or drop by one of the Malibu Boats Factories to witness the Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V each plant has. You’ve got to see it to believe it. For more information on locating a Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V near you email Chris Crysdale (chrisc@malibuboats.com).

University Student Inspired by Malibu Boats

Found this article on University of Dayton (@UnivOfDayton) art student, Erin Masur JR, who was inspired to pursue an education in graphics arts by Malibu boats (@MalibuBoats) design.

Written by Daniel Whitford - Staff Writer for University of Dayton Student Newspaper FlyerNews.com.

Erin Masur traces her interest in art back to family vacations to Norris Lake in Tennessee.

"My favorite type of boats are Malibu boats, and the graphics on the sides of those are awesome," she said, describing her inspiration to pursue graphic design.

"My dream job would be to live on the lake, drive half an hour down the mountain every day to work and design for Malibu boats."

As a junior visual communication design major, Masur has kept the theme of family in her life.

"We're a lot of fun," she said of the visual arts community at UD. "I know friends in the same major at other schools. They don't have the family that we have. We're supposed to be competing with each other, but we make each other better."

This has lead Masur to work toward creating an art fraternity, Lambda Gamma Tau.

While it is still in the planning stages, Masur said she is excited about its potential.

"It was going to be a graphic design fraternity, but since you have all these foundation classes the first two years and then everyone breaks off, you don't see each other anymore," she said.

She also said she sees the benefits that it will hold for the underclassmen.

"I want all the grades to be together so that people can feel more comfortable asking us questions now that we're the older ones," she said.

Masur said that graphic design is a lot of fun but also takes time and effort.

To read this entire article visit the University of Dayton Flyer News Online.

We are proud to be one of your inspirations, Erin! Thank you for mentioning Malibu Boats and good luck with school.

Christmas Wasn't Soon Enough For Sabrina

Dustin and Sabrina Dierksen in Their 'BuWe started the tradition of sharing Malibu Boats (@MalibuBoats) Family Christmas Stories last year during the Malibu Boat Rockin' Christmas Event and we are keeping it going this year with fun family stories like this one from the Dierksens.

Sabrina Dierksen and her husband Dustin grew up boating and going to the lake. They both started wakeboarding in 2005 and they’ve been hooked ever since. As their skills improved behind a small Baja and riding occasionally behind a friend’s Malibu boat, they started dreaming of a bigger wakeboard-specific boat. So Sabrina and Dustin began to investigate the boat buying process and determine which wakeboard boat model would work best for them. They traveled to shows and talked to friends. They finally came to the decision that a Malibu boat was the wakeboard boat for them. They decided to search for something used. That task proved difficult. There weren’t many available and the resale was fairly high on the Malibu boats they did find.

Finally the drawbacks of owning a small non-watersports boat took their toll. Sabrina had had enough of not being able to bring along more friends and family. Dustin wanted to move into more advanced wakeboard moves. So Sabrina decided to buy a new boat as a Christmas present to Dustin and herself.

“I was tired of having a crappy boat!” Sabrina explained. She was making decent money and had recently paid off her car so they could more than afford the payment. And a new boat wasn’t much more than they were looking at used. So she logged on to the Wilson Watersports web site.

The Malibu Boats Dealer in Edmond, Oklahoma, Wilson Watersports, lists the new Malibu boats they have in stock on their web site. It didn’t take long for Sabrina to find her boat. A click of the mouse on the Wilson Watersports. Sabrina purchased the "Wakesetter 23 LSV” link and there it was. She picked-up the phone right then and contacted Todd Wilson about her intentions to drive to Edmond and buy the boat. Todd agreed to hold the boat for her, but was a little skeptical that he would ever actually meet Sabrina in person.

Sabrina told Dustin she was planning a trip to Oklahoma City, OK to visit her college roommate with their friends Shane and Lisa Norris. She made sure these plans were made on a day Dustin was busy. Instead of Oklahoma City Sabrina, Shane and Lisa headed for Edmond, OK to Wilson Watersports. Sabrina purchased the Wakesetter 23 LSV she saw online. Todd and Laura Wilson, the owners of Wilson Watersports were amazed at Sabrina’s plan to surprise Dustin and were really excited to be a part of the surprise.

The boat went home to Shane’s shop from the dealership. It was supposed to stay in his shop until the big surprise was revealed. Sabrina’s plan was to wait until their anniversary, which is the 21st of December, and give it to Dustin as an anniversary/Christmas gift. But Sabrina under estimated her own excitement. There was no way she could wait. She decided to surprise Dustin that same day.

Sabrina called Dustin and let him know she was staying for a pizza at Shane and Lisa’s house in Drummond, OK. She encouraged him to join her and he agreed. Dustin didn’t find this out of the ordinary, since they hung out with Shane and Lisa all the time. Once the pizza was gone Shane lured Dustin out to the shop for something he just had to see. Once Dustin saw the boat his chin dropped, but the charade didn’t end there. Dustin’s best friend pretended the boat was his. Dustin immediately went back in the house to grab Sabrina. He had to show her “Shane’s” new boat.

When Sabrina entered the shop she looked at Dustin and said, “Merry Christmas it’s yours.” He was so surprised. Sabrina explained, “If we didn’t get it now, we were never going to do it!”

Check out Dustin and Sabrina's photo gallery on Malibu Boats Flickr Channel.

It’s been a few years since Sabrina surprised Dustin with this early Christmas gift. But according to her they are still having as much fun as ever with their Malibu boat. “We absolutely love the boat. We even bought wet suits so we could extend our season.” Sabrina continued, “We enjoy every aspect of boat ownership. We even planned vacations around going to the lake.” Sabrina explained, “We take two big trips every year with both of our families and no one is crowded. Sisters, brothers and their families even my 65-year-old step dad gets in on wakeboarding action! This boat definitely brings us together!”

This is a great Malibu Christmas Story Sabrina! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
